Clear-Com FSII 1.9 can have Bluetooth now.
« on: April 11, 2024, 03:27:30 PM »

Starting in 4th Quarter of 2023, all new FSII-BP-19 beltpacks will ship with the Bluetooth radio and features turned ON. At this time, the FSII-BP-19 beltpack can only support Bluetooth headsets that are on BT v5.1 or less. There are also restrictions on the type of Bluetooth endpoint that will work as it is NOT compatible with devices that do not have a microphone.

If you have an older FSII-BP-19 beltpack and wish to turn on the Bluetooth feature, send in for OS upgrade, more than FW upgrade. Turnaround should be quick since there is no hardware change.

Bluetooth is not available on FSII-BP-24 units

newer BP and Factory upgracded BP will then have this menu:

I tried out this feature to use my Shokz OpenComm headset on a recent corpy event as A1, and I gotta say…it was REALLY nice.

I didn’t have “comm ear” after hours of wear, and I had zero issue hearing cues from our show caller.

I felt that my boom mic with noise cancellation improved my intelligibility to others - I could basically whisper to my A2 and he still heard me clear as day.

I did have to disable sidetone (as Clearcom advises), but it was a non-issue as I could still hear my own voice with my ears being open.

For such a critical listening show position, I felt like it was a real benefit.

What's the cost to send in a beltpack?  I'm guessing our rental fleet will need this update.

Update - it's $60/pack to have the update done.

That is the price I heard, as well.

I believe any 1.9GHz packs from September 2024 onward will have the Bluetooth capability built-in.

We got to play with the Bluetooth feature, and it's pretty cool. Won't work with the Apple airpods, but we did get it working with a pair of Beats earbuds and also a one of those Bluetooth speakers.  Pretty cool, no kidding.  You could use a Bluetooth speaker as a squawk box instead of needing a separate wired box.
