Sennheiser IEM's choosing wrong channels???
« on: April 05, 2024, 01:37:10 AM »

Sennheiser G2 IEM's (A range) - When scanning freq's, multiple receivers will consistently choose some of the worst, noisiest RF's channels (several bars of RF noise on average, with peaks near max). Is this normal? I've taken to just manually selecting open freq's....but I feel like there's gotta be some bad setting? Or something off? Or maybe the seemingly "open" channels actually have some interpolation problems? I could understand if this was happening on just one of my beltpacks, but it's 3 different G2 packs....while my G4 system is just fine.

It's worth noting I recently bought this system and the antennas were trashed, so I installed new ones. Maybe I should try the SMA mod? Does this actually make a noticeable difference? Thanks for the help!

I'll check when I get down to my studio, but IIRC it was somewhere in the middle, not high, not low. I'll report back.

What is your technique for setting these?

Here’s an easy solution if your total number of mics/IEMs is 25 or less.  Free web app, just enter the venue address and your wireless inventory.

What is your technique for setting these?

1. Turn everything off.
2. Turn on a single Rx, scan all channels til a freq is found.
3. Turn on one Tx and sync to that freq to "save" it.
4. Repeat for 3-4 more systems.

But again, often the freq that is found is super noisy. So I have also tried manually scanning channels myself until I find one with no RF hits. Then I sync Tx and continue from step 3.

Do you leave the first transmitter on and then the rest of them on as you do this?

Are you scanning new list? Be sure you delete previous / current lists before you scan

...and don't just pile up the transmitters on top of each other and right next to the receivers after you program them to the receivers chosen frequency.

Space them apart by a few feet and have them maybe 20 feet away from the receive antennas.

Definitely. Thank you for bringing that up. I keep forgetting to mention the obvious things and that someone asking this kind of question my not know that.
