Evening,
I've been hired to do a gig that is a little bigger in scope than Im used to. I need some advice on workflow and method:

Video and audio of Live panel with 4 people talking on stage.
One handheld UHF (Senn), and 3 UHF tx/rx packs (Senn G3).

Client has requested live mixing, iso recorded tracks for backup, a send to
camera, and a send to a laptop.

I'm no live sound wiz, mostly location sound for video. That being said,
what is the most efficient way to do this?

I was thinking about getting an analogue mixer with post fade direct outs,
and going into my Sound Devices Mixpre 10, or SD 644. Controlling everything
at the mixer side, with line-ins and limiters on a set and forget at the recorder.

Or..using  something like a Tascam model 16 multitrack mixer, or even a Zoom Livetrack L12 for everything. (The PA is a cheap Pyle passive/active at 75' from my station.)

Any wisdom sorting through this would really help.

The less analog, the better. Don't sweat the limiting, there's no reason for any of your levels to even approach clipping. I'd be inclined to use the MixPre *as* the mixer, run it to whatever the PA is and do a little EQ there for feedback.

A desk with built in multitrack recording like the A&H SQ series would do this simply.  Use the multitrack USB recorder for recording L/R and Iso's and use the matrix sends for your laptop and camera feeds.

The SQ will only output to either the USB stick USB A front surface jack or the USB B jack on the back not both at the same time.

The QU will output to both at the same time.
