Stacking Nexo Alpha EM
« on: October 04, 2023, 06:27:10 PM »

Hi there!

I’ve got 4xEMs and the plan was to stack 2 of them on top of each other per side. I have seen that this is fairly common way to stack them. But there is some kind of interference happening since it doesn’t sound as well balanced as when I only use one of the EMs.

Does anyone know if the sound could be improved with some kind of spacer between the tops? I guess I could EQ it but I prefer not to. These cabs sound nice just the way they are when driven active. 😊

The larger the spacing distance between the cabinets, the worse the off axis interference pattern (comb filtering) will be.
Spacing the front of the cabinets to describe a portion of a vertical arc will reduce the high frequency pattern overlap, appropriate if more than 30 degrees of vertical coverage is required.

Examples attached.
