Riedel Artist - Analog to Madi automatic switchover
« on: August 02, 2016, 05:11:44 PM »

Our main interconnect is via madi leaving Our Artist as madi into a Mediornet node, fiber to the Broadcast compound and from the Mediornet node there, madi into the Artist system in the truck.

As a backup we have 16 analog 4 wires interconnected to the Broadcast audio Multi in patch world.

This logic and port design is to insure automatic switchover if any of the madi streams fail.

Below the diagram is the node page showing the common room codes.

Are the two Artist systems each running their own digital clocks asynchronously with sample rate conversion on the MADI stream within Mediornet? That would seem to keep the systems the most independent and fault tolerant rather than tying them both to a master wordclock.

Has your port naming scheme changed or do you have 32 nodes in this system?

Nice work Pete, Radi and Frank, like it.

I'm not aware of an SRC on the MediorNet or on the MADI card of the artist sadly, not like you get on a Telex MADI card.

I'm guessing the port numbering is indeed based on the artist node number, I believe the limit to be of the order of 16 frames, I'm assuming what the chaps have done is number the nodes based on the last segment of the IP address, so node 10 being xxx.xxx.xxx.10 and xxx.xxx.xxx.11 as it will have a redundant cpu card. Thus the second node is actually 12 not 11.

Keep it up chaps, best of luck for Friday.

Brew is right-

Each system on it's own clock with frame syncs on each end.  I think they are external to MN.

Node numbering starts at 10,12,14,etc  total of 12 mostly so IP matches node.
