Best DMX controller under $1500?
« on: November 08, 2013, 04:34:33 PM »

I'm pretty new to lighting and dmx but I do know my console sucks...
I've been programming four small moving heads and 20 led pars on my Elation DMX Operator 192 long enough to figure out there has to be a better way. LOL
Anyway, does anyone have a suggestion for a decent controller for about $1500? Maybe something with fixture profiles and mover friendly features?
Thanks for your input.
Cheers!

ETC SmartFade ML for full hardware, or Jands Vista M1 with computer control.

At that price you might want to consider a computer based lighting control system.  I use Elation Compushow.  You can add the Midicon for a hands on experience.

Elation/ADJ Showdesigner or Showdesigner 1. New for $749, used on eBay for $200 or less. Nothing else comes close for twice the cost.

Or (if you don't mind spending more) the Showdesigner 2 is a significant step up in many areas. I'm currently finishing up a skating rink with over 48 assorted LED fixtures, and it's perfect.
