The esoteric high-end hi-fi user would be your target market me thinks. Certainly the prices obtained on the auction sites for classic pieces by Altec, Tannoy, Vitavox et al would seem to justify aiming any sales at this particular market.

Just go to EBAY and see what some of those are selling for-you might be pleasantly surprised.

And we used to throw away that kind of gear-----------------  :(

There is an active market for those items. Ivan is correct - ebay.

IIRC Bart Locanthi designed the original Altec 288, then went on to JBL with the 2440/LE85, and finally TAD with the 4001.

I once placed those larger horns next to the original KF850 DDS design. Everyone watching said "hmmmmmmmn.."

Agreed - It seems we've had jobs where these old Altec cabinets were either walled up or just tossed into the attic space.  I'm finding the drivers for the horns going for $300-500 each.  Didn't see the sub or any of the actual horns.   I'll keep digging on eBay.
Thanks

big market now for the 1566 and 1567 preamps/mixers. I'm sure there are many who took those out of installs and into a dumpster...
