Hardware rant.
« on: April 03, 2013, 08:24:45 PM »

Why do recessed latches protrude just enough to catch and gouge all of your other cases? Seems like if you're going to go through the trouble to design something that is recessed for a purpose, the least you could do is go all the way so it is truly and completely recessed.
Rant off.

Why are handles on some cases designed to break the back of you hand if two people are carrying the case?

Hey Tim,
Just saw that you're from Utica/Rome. I was born and raised in Rome. Graduated from RFA. Small world.

They make a LOT of latches, some with deeper trays. Check with them.

The real answer is probably as unsatisfying as the railroad gauge-Roman chariot connection.

There are rarely "clean sheet" designs. Things evolve from prior art and contemporary manufacturing realities.

Today's latches, whatever their shortcomings, are better than what came before.

I have noticed that the cheaper the flightcase, the more the butterfly latches seem to protrude.

Anyone else notice this?
