Fried tweeter, choosing a replacement...
« on: October 11, 2012, 08:43:52 AM »

Hello all,
I own 4XCV PS-12 II speakers(specs), one of the tweeters was fried before my time. Up till now I didn't need all the speakers but decided to fix it for something that should come up. What I started at at first was to look for the original C5G driver, then I decided to verify that the other speaker has the original tweeter as well. Unfortunately what I found was an old Tonsil GDWT 9/40/4 8ohm driver that's not available anymore... Now I need to replace both tweeters :(

Finally to my questions:
With sound quality at a budget in my mind, with some robustness as well, what would be better, to get the original C5G drivers or to get a replacement B&C, Selenium or some other name brand driver that would fit?

Thank you

If you ever plan to use all 4 speakers together then it would be best to have identical drivers in all cabinets. I don't how the originals compare to those listed below but I have some of these BT2 drivers and they have proven to be very robust and that's a lot more than one can say about the CVs

Thank you for the reply,
Now I need to open up the rest of the speakers to see what's installed in them, if I'm going to fix them I might just as well try to get matching drivers. I hope there's something replacable in there.
