Peak Amperage draw? Crown XTI 6002
« on: August 26, 2012, 09:00:49 AM »

Ive been trying to find the peak amperage draw for a Crown XTI 6002. Has anyone had any experience with these amps? or was able to find the peak amperage somewhere? I can't seem to find that info...

http://www.crownaudio.com/media/storagebk/amp_htm/xti2files/XTi2%20datasheet.pdf

According to TFD (The fine datasheet) 1/8 power for the 6002 is 15.2A into 4 ohms stereo.

Damn... I don't know how I missed the datasheet on the website. Thanks!

Of course do you mean by the most current it will draw for a very short period of time-even though the break will easily "carry" the load?  or the "maximum average" over a period of time-like what would be under normal usage?

Current draw is very much like power capacity of a loudspeaker.  Lots for a short period of time- and less amounts over the average usage.

If it helps,  I run 2 SRX725 with 1 XTI6000 and so far I have never triped a single 15 amps circuit. I don't everclip it as my subs can't keep with it. (2 SRX728S with a bridge XTI4000 each).  I run the sub from a diferent circuit.

You'd likely see an improvement by using the 6000 in stereo for the subs and the 4000's bridged for the tops.

Now back to your regularly scheduled program....

Bullwinkle: This is the amplifier, which amplifies the sound. This is the Preamplifier which, of course, amplifies the pree's.

The 6000 in stereo in the the subs doesn't even get close to the XTI's, Saving for a ITech 6000.  Sorry for high Jacking the tread....

I recently discover with the help of a client,  that although my amplifiers do not trip the breakers, the sound is very soft  if the power of the outlet is not enough.  If the power is insuficient the amps red lights clip very quckly producing little power, (Oh I lied about ever clipping :-[).  When conected to a proper distro,  the speakers come  alive and the system is painfully loud, specially the tops. Now I request two 15A circuits (one for each xti400) and a 20A (for the XTI6000) and I love it.
