Looking for a new sub amp
« on: July 07, 2012, 05:24:39 PM »

Hi guys. So I finally broke open my wallet and purchased a set of JBL SRX 728 subs and was thinking about getting a Crown MA 9000i  (3000w @ 4 Ohms) to drive them. Does anybody have any comments on this particular amp? I have old MA series amps that I've had for 20 years and they are still rockin'.  Are the newer ones made as well?  I don't need all of the itech digital control hoopla. Thanks.

Hi Scott,

The MA is a solid amp..

My personal preference is Lab Gruppen.

I would recommend either two FP 7000's (Bridge Mono one on each sub)

or

one FP 14000

The Crown is around $3K. Two FP7000 around $5K and the FP14000 comes in at $6K. With the extra three grand you could pick up a X32 and have a lot of fun!
