I think today SMAART has the same situation.  I see so many SMAART systems just sitting on the RTA page.

Depending on how you use it that may not be an issue.  If you set spectrum to infinite hold you can then observe how the room is reacting over the course of the whole performance.  Maybe you see the HF starting to drop off you can tweak that up a little to compensate.

Or, you could be using it as a hot frequency close to feedback-locator.
I do that sometimes with lavs and tricky rooms.

With the waterfall on, feedback shows as a solid line.

I remember when I first got my Audio Control Sa3050a, I had it set up at FOH and right on cue, here comes an arm chair engineer to rain on my parade.  Questioning why I have one and before I could answer laying into my about how it doesn't do what I think it does and that I shouldn't be using it as a crutch for this and that, blah, blah, blah, etc.  When he finally gave an opportunity to reply, I told him that I just liked the bouncy lights.  Seeing that it had kind of taken the wind out of his sails, I then pressed the SPL button and said that it also made a hell of a large display SPL meter.  But mostly I like the lights.
