Micheal Winslow
« on: March 24, 2008, 03:35:25 PM »

Set up a comedy night with one of my newer venues. Part of the deal was Michael Winslow coming thru 6 weeks into the night. I was really impressed by his show - and it helped that there was one hell of a rig in place to immerse the crowd in his experience. Just wanted to rant. That is all.

It's only a 300 seater, so I imagine there won't be many other shows like that.

Michael Winslow? That's the guy that did all the sounds on the Police Academy movies, right? Man, that would be one helluva gig--not your typical one mic talking head show!

Yeah, better have one hell of a good mic for all his SFX! He was hillarious in those movies, hope his live act was just as good.

What kind of compression/limiting do you put on someone like that?  Who cups the mic and makes all those wierd noises?  Like Bill Cosby back in the day.  NOAH!   Shocked

uhhh. None ?
Those sound effects are all about dynamics. Bring enough "rig for the gig", and let the artist work the mic.
