Currently I run a well used pair of KF650z tops. (1 per side over dual 18 subs; all properly powered).   I have heard alot about the UX8800 Gunness focussing and the improvement in sound over the MX8700 series of processors (which is what I use).

I am wondering this:  Given the cost of the UX8800, should I bit the bullet, or should I invest in a newer set of active speakers. My back is starting to get tired of the KF650z and the poweramp rack.  I love the sound of the 650z and they work for what I do (sound for weekend warriors 40 events per year)  99% of the time (rent when I need more), but I am looking to downsize a little.

You're going to be hard pressed to find a box that "beats" the kf650z. Danley is a winner in my book. Short lines do not impress me.. they are not going to have the fullness of a 650 and the LF will tend to fall off.  Another real option is to go with a powersoft DSP amp - they now have onboard the gunness processing that UX delivers.  I'm not a huge fan of the UX - but the greyboxs are really good.
