Title: Replace Video Mixer?
Post by: John Livings on January 16, 2011, 10:04:06 PM
Looking to  purchase a used Video Mixer with 4 channels in and 1 out plus Preview.

We Shoot, Record and provide SR for Children's Theater Groups. We use 4 DV Cameras.

My Video Mixer (Vedionics MX-1) Started working erratically last week, and I think the cost to
Repair is around $300.00+ Dollars. (It is 10 years old)

Cost is an issue, so we must stay with DV (Not HD).

Looking for suggestions and I know I am using very Low End Equipment.

Regards,  John

I've used the Datavideo SE-500 mixer before without any issues. It is feature limited, but gets a basic shoot done. The SE-800 is more expensive, but has a lot more features as well.

You can find the SE-500 at: http://datavideo.us/products/switchers-mixers/sd-switchers/se-500-video-switcher.html (http://datavideo.us/products/switchers-mixers/sd-switchers/se-500-video-switcher.html)

+1 on the Data Video stuff!

Another company to look at would be Edirol / Roland.  They make a few switchers that would fit your needs. Their most basic one is the LVS-400 with 4 inputs.

I just worked a corporate gig with a guy who was using the larger Roland LVS-800. Its a nice unit, but may be larger than you need.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I will look at the LVS-400, as a rental house close to me has one.

Again, Thanks.
