Title: FaitalPro's new 18" woofer
Post by: Jeff Bankston on October 31, 2015, 05:23:30 AM
I'm gonna have to try at least one. It better be good for what it cost. I hope they make it in 4 ohm.

Appears to be several differences in the US Speaker specs and the ones Faital Pro posts.

Looks like a nice driver, but I wonder how the curved cone will hold up to high compression ratios.

My  biggest concern is the LARGE open areas that trash can get directly into the voice coil gap-causing damage to the coil.

The openings (with no screens on them) are the largest I have seen on pro woofers.

Yes some HI-fi woofers have larger openings, but they are not as subject to trash as pro woofers are.

I never said it was a vented pole piece

The gaps are in he sides where the magnet attaches to the frayou can easily see through to the voice coil

a lot of the top of the line systems use FaitalPro. i'll have to pull an 18" and look for myself. never heard of anyone that had a problem with crap getting in. a lot of FaitalPros in top of the line systems here in los angeles along with Ciare cone drivers.

I was not talking about all the faital drivers

We use several different ideals in our products

I was talking about the latest model with large Xmax

I'm not sure if the model as I am away from the office

In my limited testing it appears to work well.  It is just the durability in harsh environments that I am concerned with

I was a reconer for over 15 years and know first hand what trash in the gap can do to a driver

DSL now includes abstract concepts in loudspeaker cabinets?

Custom orders must be exceptionally difficult - how do you address high-minded aspirations such as world peace now or end global economic inequality, alongside impressive sensitivity, high quality passive crossovers and exceptional pattern control - all via one box?

It requires a sophisticated iPad app. 😁
