I'm thinking about giving this a shot.
Anybody ever done ANYTHING like this before??
From my measurements it's abotua 10' horn
Basically it goes arround the box inside like a curly slide @ a playground. I figured w/ a 12" driver (Like the lab) you could make a box approx 26-28" wide x 3' tall & 3' deep and have a fairly deep response w/ it.
What's your opinions on this idea?
1. Will it go deep? 2. Will it be LOUD? 3. Is it just too expensive to build? 4. Would the LAB speaker work? 5. Wold somebody help me try & build one in Orange County
I'm basically looking for a box that goes deep, easy to power, and very portable. the vegas and LA400s are very portable, but the Vegas suck & the LAs don't go too deep.
Give me some feedback.

To explain it as much as possible. The path of the speaker goes down, to the right then up and away from you into the 2nd layer of the speaker. Then it would go left on the top then down then to the right out the front of the speaker in approximately a 12" wide by 16" high mouth of the horn.

Josh, Before you started slicing and dicing plywood, I strongly recommend a trip to the archives of the old LSP and a search of posts by Tom Danley, Jeff Robinson and John Sheerin. A search of the LAB archives from November 2001 through January 2002 under the same names and perhaps 'subwoofer' will probably be worthwhile too. Just shooting sound thru a tunnel doesn't make a horn. The horn serves as a compression loading device coupling the cone to the air. Also take a good look at the relationship bewtween mouth size and low frequency response. With a mouth 21"x 43 1/2", it still requires a stack of 4 or preferably 6 units to reach maximum low frequency extension and proper coupling for the Lab Sub.
Take some time and follow the path so adeptly prepared by the real bass/speaker gurus around here.

Been there, done that. When you actually start applying dimemsions, you soon find out that it won't fit. Even with a single 12, the best layout is still similar to the LabSub with maybe a little more spiral overlap.
In a cad program, try modelling the straight flare, cutting it in sections, and folding it around - you soon realise the limitations of physical size!

Sorry I didn't see your comment that the La400 doesn't go low enough. The more you stack together the lower they go, from what I understand.

I think what you want is being made by someone in the UK , its known as the LOONEY BIN , they boast of a specially designed 1000W18"driver with a 5"voice coil and an extralarge magnet for higher SPL , but I doubt if it will go down to 20 hz as the Lab Sub ,

I haven't personally seen one of these, but from what I can gather it is a typical Z-fold, and not a curly one like Josh was suggesting.
