I'm sifting through way too many programs and not finding a good one in the bunch. Here's what I need to do:
1 - Convert a PowerPoint presentation to video.
2 - Overdub the audio
3 - Burn a dvd.
Is there a program out there for the Windows platform that you have experience with that does the job? I'm getting tired of buying software and finding their quality levels somewhat low.

It's a good idea to create your PowerPoint with the computer running through the scan converter and watch on a TV so you can see what the final result will be. Some colors don't work in video and some slide transitions will show a lot of artifacts.

Is the audio attached to the PPT already? I'm guessing your client wants to have a "happy-face" slide show set to music put on disc. Am I close? Then it is just a matter of getting the signal to NTSC, and running the audio with it. You shouldn't have any latency issues unsyncing the audio, but watch closely anyway to see if you need to delay the sound a frame or 2.
If there is more detailed text on the PPT, look closely at that, as Don pointed out. Down converting to NTSC will really put the fuzz on small text, so give it a once over and be prepared to beef up some point sizes if need be.
All of this assumes, of course, that you are using an external DVD recorder. If you are looking to do this internally, then unfortunately, I have no knowledge of software that will do that. That in no way implies that it doesn't exist. When we are tasked with this sort of this we run it all as outlined above.

Hence I have been looking for a program that I can change the power point presentation to video so the timeing is locked by frames. Then overdub the audio live so it stays in sync. Then burn the whole thing to a DVD.
The main problem is I have tried several programs that claim to do this....Spent more money then I should have...and they don't work. The transitions become very jerky. I have played with frame rates in programs that allow me to and they still work so so or not at all.
I need a program that somebody has used, and knows that it works. Any help?
I can always do a screen capture via firewire to a digital camera....then bring it back in a overdub the audio live...then burn the DVD...if I have to. But there are many programs that claim to do this. I just want to cut to the chase and find one that someone else has had that works.
Does that sound really cheep of me? I want to use somebody elses experience to solve my problem?
I guess that's why I post answers to other guys questions to help them out with my experience? In my part of the world there is not anyone else that knows what I am talking about.

I tried GeoVideo and was not please with the results.
I have been playing with Camtasia and I might be able to live with it. I just need to get my client to let me change a few of the transitions. Then it will work.

What is the specific runtime error number? For instance, Error 7 means out of memory while Error 61 is Disk Full.
I'm guessing your computer might benefit from stopping any unnecessary background applications while you convert Powerpoint to video. Here's some more help:

Well, the most common runtime error is using Windows 98, cause it does not run on WIndows 98.

Using the Save As function in PPT you can "export" your ppt presentation to jpegs which could then be inserted in any video editing program, like Final Cut Pro on the Mac or Premiere on the PC. All transitions would have to be done in those programs but they would look perfect of course.
