One of the projects I am working on is a renovation of one of our old downtown historic streets. As part of the project we are putting in power for food trucks, bands, etc. There was a lot of discussion about how much power and where... What we decided was anything that needed more than a 50A/240v California connector was probably a show big enough that generator rental was easy to absorb into the event budget. So... In a 1/2 mile of street we have 15 power points, each with a single 50a/240v California connector. There are 5 load centers on the street, some feed additional landscape lighting, tree twinkle lights, and 2 serve traffic lights as well. Regardless I emphasized to the engineers that I could easily expect to extend every outlet 100' and wanted to have the full 50a available. Walking down the street today I was this wire doing a home run... Guess they did the math, and glad to see the electrician is pulling the right size wire

That is so nice you are working with folks with the forethought and willingness to properly equip the space for the purpose. Very cool.

I'm frankly shocked. If the engineer didn't get it wrong I thought for sure the electrical contractor would. That's 2awg and I thought for sure someone would decide that was ridiculous and just not do it....

Cailen, this is the first time I am looking at it on a real monitor. On my phone the wire gauge was not apparent. I assume you are closer than 1000 feet to the load center?

Hard to tell the conduit run as its under a street now, but it isn't straight. I'd say closer to 600 as the crow flies.
But I also told the engineer that I could stick at minimum 100' of extension on this.

Man, you guys are spoiled here! Danley systems (plural), Titan projectors, you even get the right amount of power when you ask for it! I need to come check out some shows and at least enjoy what my tax dollars are going towards. I noticed the Lumineers are in town tomorrow...are you involved with that show?

No... I stay away from KBA. Although I have a dream of putting a pair of Jericho's out ther. We don't actually run the amphitheater. It's operation is contracted. That said, I know all the people, and they are all great. I am rowing in the amphitheater dragon boat team this weekend at the dragon boat festival
The lumineers show is live streaming. It's actually pretty impressive... Outback, the local promoter, worked with the SMG run venue, AEG global, and live nation who is coordinating the tour to get the love steam together. The politics of that all working out is impressive.

I just noticed it's sold out, so I guess my only option at this point is live stream.
Don't they limit the spl out there to something like 95dBA at mix position? That would be such a waste of a good pair of Jehricos! A SM80 could do 100dBA! Maybe a pair of SH96, or if it needed to 'look big' the Exodus series.

They do limit, although 3 shows a year can exceed... Most of the issue is the touring systems throw a lot of spl where it doesn't need to go. My hope is a properly designed system with some directional subs could provide higher in park SPLs with lower SPL to surrounding areas.

Yeah that makes sense. I'm sure you'll still have BE's who insist on using what they brought. In that case the SPL limits would be strictly enforced. If they use the house system they might have a little more leeway since you know the neighbors aren't getting it as bad.
