Title: Wireless mic not passing audio
Post by: Joseph D. Macry on September 14, 2018, 08:22:41 am
Hello Hive Mind,

I am looking at a Sennheiser Freeport wireless mic, handheld (model SKM-3).
When turned on, I can tap the mic and hear "thump thump" out the speakers. But it passes no audio when saying "Check one two". I have receiver gain at max and squelch at minimum.
What should I be checking out here?

Do you get 4 green lights on the receiver when the handheld is turned on? If not the handheld and base are not set to the same channel.

If that does check out remove the capsule and check the wiring, I'm not sure how but people manage to rip the wiring off the capsule when messing with it.

You are probably hearing microphonics in the transmitter and  not audio from the capsule which is broken.

Confirmed, the leads from the coil are broken off. Can't fix it due to this "one-piece mold" thing. Oh well, it works in a banned frequency band anyways. Going to recommend the owner buy a replacement.
