Title: just discoverd the roof leaking onto my Midas Venice
Post by: James Heyser on March 14, 2012, 10:08:07 PM: it's sitting on it's back now with a fan blowing on it, haven't opened it up yet, anyone have any ideas on how to minimize the repair costs? Will it just dry out? I know from a past repair that it's a monster to pull apart.

It will quite likely dry out and continue to work, but chemicals and minerals in the water will speed up rusting on the PCB. I suggest getting serviced ASAP. They will have to pull it apart and clean with contact cleaner.

Our churches lighting board, projection Mac Mini and GL3000 all got soaked recently, and all have survived. I rather hoped that the GL3000 would die, but it refused!

I had something similar happen to my venice.... It aired out and continued to work fine. I wouldn't turn it on though for a day or 2.

I ran a mackie 1202 through a dish washer once. True Story.

It lived several more years until the power supply failed.

I've found it more helpful to leave the mixer out in the rain once a year at an outdoor festival. Don't have to worry about the effects of detergent that way.

Any electronic device that has had a swim can often be salvaged by immersing it in this stuff. It is flammable, so be careful.
It might attack some delicate surfaces and dissolve some kinds of marker pen writing, which might or might not be a bad thing depending on your situation.
