Title: Gaff Tape
Post by: Adam Pace on May 18, 2012, 09:37:45 PM
Aight Guys,

Want to see what ya'll are using. In the world of gaff tape. What is the best, yet budget friendly source for gaff tape. I am a TecNec dealer and they offer a few choices, but just wanting to see if there are better or cheaper sources out there before I place an order.

Thoughts?

     :o ;D

Two things wrong with this scenario... the 1st, is very expensive and "it" tends to cost a lot of money for what it's worth. It needs constant attention, often demanding, doesn't know when "it's" usefullness is over, and seems to make reappearances.

The 2nd, is a pain in the behind, seems to stick around for a short time, and is experienced at making dramatic exits.  Whenever wanting "it" around, it is nowhere to be found, but when not wanted anywhere in sight...it's always there.  It never likes the cold, and yet, is not happy with heat either. In a short time, you'd wished you'd have made a different choice.

Adam,

FindTape.com has a test pack of gaff that you can buy from them.  You get 10 different rolls of various grades from various manufacturers.

Take a look. (http://www.findtape.com/product321/FindTape-GAFF-TEST-PACK-Gaffers-Tape-Challenge-Pack.aspx?idx=7&tid=2&info=gaff)

PSSL.COM always has good prices on Gaf tape, btw.
Not the best (e.g., ADJ), but about 1/2-2/3 the cost of elsewhere.
Cheers,

I ordered my last case from TapeStockOnline.com, and it was under $12/roll. Basic 2"/60yard black tape.

I get mine from Guitar Center.  It's a big roll for $16.  I think that's pretty expensive, but it works great.

Dick, I have some 3/8" wide spike tape that may have been more appropriate for your application.
