Hello I'm new here and I have a question I hope you can help answer.
I am setting up a tv studio in the New Orleans area. I need to get a good wireless audio set up. I'm looking at either the Shure axient system or a Lectrosonics system. Which system would you go with and why?

How many channels you need ? the Shure has a 4 channel package...the Lectro a six channel...all expandable. All lav packs ?
will you be using the system outside ? Nearly all filmwork is done using Lectro...their options of pack size...power & run time gives you many options

Looking at a 4 lav System mostly for live broadcast in a studio environment setting. No film work.

Well... I own some of both. There's not a simple answer.
I love the Axient Digital system because of all the features, encryption, compatibility with Dante, and compatibility with Wireless Workbench, however they are all rack mount receivers. On the other hand, Lectrosonics was designed for location sound with the option for really small transmitters and really small receivers (depending on the models you choose). While you might not need the "small" receivers, small transmitters are almost always welcome. I can't say this for a fact, but subjectively I would claim that my Lectro SMv transmitters combined with my Lectro SRb receivers seem to have a slightly lower noise floor. Additionally, as I'm sure you already know, there are a few cameras out there that have a "super slot" on them making it possible to insert a SRb or SRc receiver directly into the camera. Sadly, Lectrosonics does not currently offer encryption on any of their wireless systems, but the Axient Digital has that built in. For some that might be the deciding factor
I would probably say, if you are in need of Dante, then go for the Shure. To the best of my knowledge Lectro does not currently offer a wireless system that's Dante compatible. But remember, you're going the have to rack mount these receivers, and they are not light in weight. If however you think there is even the most remote possibility that you may need to go on location, or even just elsewhere in the same building, then the Lectros would be far better suited for portable use.

As others have said, both the Lectrosonics and the Axient Digital are excellent systems, it mostly just comes down to deciding which one suits your needs better.

Since it's a studio install why not spend your efforts instead of making the receivers portable making your coverage wider ... so a distributed antenna system with multiple zones would be beneficial to have talent be mobile throughout the facility the axient would lend to favor here with its included 4 antenna inputs ... however the lectro is the way to go for eng style systems
