Title: New controller/console from ADJ-looks interesting
Post by: Bradford "BJ" James on March 18, 2021, 12:22:54 PM
The ADJ Link 4 looks like a nice bridge between a full scale console and full tablet dependance.
Just got the news release from my rep yesterday.

Meh. Doesn't use palets. Still channel based. No network protocols.

Seems rather low build quality. A freakin' USB light which will be busted off rather quickly.

For a little more you can get the Work Lightshark, which is much more advanced. Still not great build quality though, but has at least decent connectors and no powerbrick.

Yeah, I have to give this a “hmm...” too.  I suppose anything that’s an improvement from the ADJ DMX Operator could be welcomed, but I see numerous shortfalls and missed opportunities here as well.  iPad-only will discourage quite a few users - particularly those wishing to use budget tablets for field work.

I think this was a huge missed opportunity to not cross-pollinate with Elation/Obsidian and expand on that ecosystem instead of making yet another standalone product.  Flying faders would have been nice here too.  If my A&H dLive IP8 can have them and still be under $1000 so can this.  Just my thoughts...

iOS only?    Fail.  ;D

Does it do anything cool?

I won't even consider a small controller now without flying faders.  When I busy a show, statics suck!
