The only time I would be drinking that early in the morning is after drinking all night.

I don't (can't) do that any more.

DeltaMax?  OY VEY.  I thought my local PAC had the last DeltaMax on earth installed in its auditoriums.

I own six, and use them for all my small format needs: weddings, park shows, etc. Their sound is super clear and they'll blow away any plastic powered box.

About 15 years ago I was working as a stagehand at our old arena.  Plain white passenger van pulls up to the dock entrance and the people go to a catering room back stage.  A little over an hour later they leave.  "12 Step Meeting Delivery Service."

Several artistic folks and crew members "needed a meeting" and a local group came to them.

Real Deal fellowship.

You might try using your EVs two per side and running a dual PA.  This would entail sending the instruments/band to one pair and sending the vocals to the other pair.  This won't give much more volume but, it will greatly reduce your destructive interference and increase your intelligibility.

Maybe leaving a list of morning AA meetings instead?

Ouch! The truth hurts sometimes.

For a talkback mic, pretty much anything could work.  However, you need to make sure to coordinate the frequency of the device with the rest of your wireless world.

If you're already using wireless systems, the easy answer is to just get one more of the same.  Makes for easy coordination AND a spare that can be used when an emergency arises.
^ This.

Use of the spare wireless mic as a TB during setup is how most of them get used.

Dave,

From what I could see and hear from this live video of that show:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrFSGz2_-wg
the elder tricksters looked and sounded pretty hobbled in the performance.
Guitars and vocals off pitch past cringeworthy in too many spots to count.
Stage monitors and side fills still can't bring hearing to the deaf  :'(

Art,
The audio mix in that video was far better than what we heard, confirming my suspicion that the side fill hangs were not active. It's a shame that everyone above the main floor were short changed (thanks to @Justice for the corroborating evidence).

They were on IEMs, with no wedges, except for Zander's kid (video confidence monitors on the lip). No idea if the stage fills (2 array cabs per side) were operating?

I love much of their recorded music, but their live sound has seldom been much more than a "cheap trick" from what I've heard myself and from others who have provided production in the 5 plus decades they have been pounding it out.

We were playing the same saloons in Wisconsin & Illinois when Fuse became Cheap Trick. I've been aware of "the trick" since then  ;) .

As far as stage volume goes, when we played the mainstage at the first Rockfest in Cadott, WI, they were the headliners. Big stacks aside, Nielsen had a Deluxe Reverb with JBL D120F backstage that was mic'd up. Everything else was for show (including Sound City cabs loaded with blinder lights).

Oh well, probably the last concert in a basketball arena/hockey rink/football stadium I'll attend anyway.

How is the RF performance?  You obviously have the dual receiver.

Ive never had any issues with it fading or cutting out. Ive been quite surprised actually for the cost of it.

I have a general rule: after 10-12 years of intense use the speakers have to be replaced. At the same time I keep speakers, which rarely used or used as a back up. New generation of speakers usually have better electronics (if powered) or drivers anyway plus an old equipment have a tendency to break, which cost money or even worth when they suddenly start to give me problems on the job.
I had a client once who refused to pay for my services, when one of my speakers suddenly went crazy and started to make cracking sounds in quiet corporate setting.
To be honest, RCF speakers are very reliable and gave me little headache so far. At the same time the quality of recent electronic components is very poor. I've heard that people from RCF USA made this an issue with manufacturer and RCF now buying some components from Germany and USA, which make prices to go up. Go figure.
