I am looking to complete a system for a modern praise and worship band. I have been slowly piecing things together, and I would appreciate some advice!
I'm definitely looking to go used.
Playing in living rooms or back yards say 20 to 80 people.
Acoustic, electric, bass, possibly keys, edrums, up to 3 vocalists all running direct through PA.
What I have already:
Beringer xr12 mixer
1 Alto ts212
1 EKX15SP sub
What I'm looking at:
QSC k10 pair.
Yamaha DXR 10 or 12
Possibly just doing a single dxr to go with the Alto now, and buying another down the road. I found a pair of k10s for sale for $650, I read dxrs might have a better sound. They are roughly $800 a pair and a 3 hour drive, or $450 each used from guitar center.
Are k10s going to sound clear and not harsh with this setup (remember the sub is in play too)
Are 10s in general fine for this?
Is it better to piece together with the DXRs?
Something else?

I prefer DXRs to QSC K series in terms of sound quality and SPL BUT that is decent price of $650 for the pair. I have found the K series single driver units break up a bit when pushed so it depends on your levels whether you could consider the K10s. However, as your system is limited to one sub anyway, I doubt you'd have any problems if the system is balanced top and bottom...

I agree with Debbie, DXR over QSC (even 2.0).
That said, QSC K-series is a work-horse and can't be killed.

While I agree with the others that the DXR's are "better" than the K10's, I doubt you'll be pushing them hard enough to get them into breakup. I personally would go for the better deal and live with those until you know you need to upgrade. I have 4 K10's here and they get used a lot.
If you grow to crowd sizes over 100 people on a regular basis you can upgrade your mains, but those K10's make an excellent monitor for the band. You'll always find a use for them.

Unfortunately the seller with the k10s is no longer responding. (Facebook) so I'm still on the lookout. I see a lot of dxr12s as low as 800 a pair which seems ok, but no 10s around. See a few k10s, but they are usually asking 500 each.
Thanks for the tip on the place in lake worth! I wrote to them to see if they have seen anything.

You will not grow out of the DXR12s. I only use a single one over appropriate subs for loud bar gigs of 100+ tightly packed rowdies (those events are not happening now, of course). Both the 10 and the 12 have a nice even spread (lateral pattern) and throw* outdoors.
* My definition is, the ability to sound the same over a long distance. Only the level changes.
A note on ergonomics:
Even though the DXR12 is larger and a bit heavier than the DXR10, with its 2 side handles it is actually easier to get up on and off a tripod. The DXR10 has only a top handle and the sides are very slippery.
In a "living room," you may not even need a sub. 5-string low B? No.
