Title: Timers For Presenters during a Conference
Post by: Corne Stapelberg on February 14, 2011, 08:06:54 AM
I would like to know from members what type of method you use in your conference venues as A/V specialists to keep time during a presenter's presentation.

On Screen Timer?
The normal old method of a buzzer and some GREEN, ORANGE and RED LED on podium?

I will appreciate any feedback.

Regards

The D'San limitimer seems pretty standard for corporate meetings. http://www.dsan.com/speaktimers/Limitimer1.asp. You can get a larger clock that can live by the confidence monitors that doesnt take up space on the podium.

We're using this: http://www.microframecorp.com/product/62104.html
for the first time today. It works well and pack into a very small, shippable case. We made tails with XLR to keep from having to screw in the wires each time.... We also use a laptop to a 26" monitor running http://www.blingclock.com/

Good luck! Post what you end up using. We are on a search for "the one".

They also make a dongle that interfaces their timer control with pc's for adding a clock on top of a downstage monitor. Great support too.

This showed up on a thread on the old Forums.  We've been using it A LOT and it works great.  Because it runs in a non-resizable 640x480 window, change the computer's resolution to 800x600 (most modern LCD monitors don't seem to like 640x480 that much).  We have a $250 netbook running it into $100 19" LCD.

Being able to run personalized messages is also REALLY nice (as long as the presenter doesn't mind it!).

This works well, and you can have personalized messages, etc.

Works for most resolutions as far as I have tested.

We also use the D'San Limitimer and it works perfectly. We have the bluetooth model which is great if you don't want lay down any cables. You can also have multiple timers linked up to one controller.
