Title: What is a good wall mount option for a 70V speaker?
Post by: Steve Crump on May 12, 2019, 10:20:28 AM
We prewired a small steakhouse for 7 wall mount 70 volt speakers (2 in the bar, 2 in dining, 1 in waiting and 2 at the outside patio) and now the customer is asking us to purchase and install.
We originally roughed in based on using the EV S Evid 4.2T, but I can't find stock and now the customer is in a hurry. Anyone have a suggestion on a good option? Of course, I can just tell him it is going to take a couple weeks, but still I am curious about other options.

For this type of install I would normally use the speakers from the Apart Mask range, either 4CT or 6CT.
I have also had good results from the Clever Acoustics BGS or WPS ranges, although I'm not sure on what the availability of clever acoustics is outside of UK and Ireland.

Martin CDD with the asymmetric pattern work great, and sound great.

CDD5 is nice, but the transformer version is about 1.75x the price of an EVID S4.2T

In the same price range and general sound quality as the EV, look at the QSC AD-S4T.

Spoke with a vendor this morning and he made a call and found that the 5.2 is in stock and I could have them in a week, so I went that route. I did look at all these options, and in the end I felt the EV was just a good all around option. The JBL CSS-1S/T is out there too, but I could not find where it is listed for outdoor installation.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Was that a typo on "4.2" or is there a "5.2" model I don't know about yet?

Also look at Klipsch CA-650T, or Sonance PS-S63T, both work good in restaurant jobs -inside or outside.
