Title: Mirror Ball Lighting
Post by: Rufus Crowder on January 15, 2011, 10:35:11 AM
I need recommendations on a fixture that will mount on a par can bar that will light up a 20" mirror ball from about 20 feet away.  I have tried a couple of close up pin spots (36 watts) but they looked dull even close positioned.  Are pin spots made at higher wattages?  Would an ellipsoidal work?

That's about a 5 degree beam you need.  You might try a VSNP lamp in a PAR, or an ellipsoidal with an iris.

These guys sell a 100 watt ACL lamp with a transformer. They call it the worlds most powerful pinspot.

Its way down on this page, close to the bottom.

I too would like an awesome disco ball light, so I've been watching this thread.

If my research is correct, that 100w acl uses a GE 4537 lamp.

The specs show a whopping...25 hours lamp life.  Sad There's always a tradeoff in this world.

Please correct me if I'm wrong!
