Title: PTZ for touring?
Post by: Sean T Hayes on March 08, 2017, 11:23:00 AM
Does anybody have recommendations for a touring-grade PTZ camera?

I have a couple of Sony BRC-Z700 that are not holding up well to constant in and out of their cases by different hands and what-not.

Any recommendations are appreciated.

I'm looking into an AJA RovoCam + Rushworks PTX head (which is essentially a DMX-controlled mover minus the light source.)
Or I may just gaff-tape it onto one of my movers.

PZT's (I'm using Vaddio) do not seem to have been designed for portable use.

Here is one that's already on a mover! (http://www.prg.com/~/media/Files/US/PRG-Products/GroundControl-Followspot-System/Datasheets/GC-Bestboy_Nov16.pdf?la=en) ;-)

I've not tried the PTZ optics but will be getting one soon to test out.  Anyone else used one?

Way cool!  I had read about their automatic follow spot and wondered if they would have anything "smaller."
Would be interesting to know how good the camera is, or if it's mainly for "preview."

It's HD video. It looks great. It is not just for preview, the 4 operators on the Tonight Show will be operating from under the seating with no view of the stage. There will be a large preview monitor with a wide shot of the stage to help them locate their target. To hit right on the mark there is guide target on the controller monitor.
