Title: Video Camera
Post by: Michael Anderson on November 14, 2007, 08:16:32 PM
Hello all.  Our church is looking to purchase a video camera to use  for magnifying the stage up onto our 10x7 screen.  It's main use would be for baptisms, concerts, etc where it can be hard to see from the back of the church.  What would be recommended for a camera and for cable?

Thanks!  Michael Anderson

Michael,

A few questions.  Are you wanting a permanently mounted camera, a tripod mounted camera or a handheld camera?  How wide and tight of a shot do you want, for example if the camera was permanently mounted what would be the tightest shot, say during a baptism or sermon, and widest shot, maybe during a concert, that you would need?  Do you have any lighting beyond general architectural lighting?  What video format do you need from the camera (composite video, S-video, component, SDI, etc) to get it into your presentation system?

Brad,

Ideally the camera would probably be tripod mounted, thus it could be moved to different locations around the sanctuary.  Our tighest shot would be around 8ft, and our complete stage isn't over 20' wide.  At most it wouldn't be over 50' away.  Our projector has a number of different inputs, and I'm not sure what would be the best video format to use.  I'm assuming s-video would be a good starting point, and would be the lowest quality that we would use.  Maybe I'm not on the right track there, not sure.

Thanks for the help
