Title: Outdoor Sound on a Moving Vehicle
Post by: Reginald "Bubba" Bourne on January 23, 2017, 05:50:55 PM
New to the forum and thanks ahead for your help.
I have a couple questions about speaker setup and design. We have a Mardi Gras float and have in the past been running 8-JBL JRX115 and like everyone else we have to replace the horns often. We have a peavey PR2 1600 and 3000 amplifier and a Yamaha mixer. It sounds like crap.

we are looking to replace these 8 speakers with something like the following:
1.) 4 PRX 815W Active Speakers
     2 PRX 718XLF Active Subs
or

2.) 4 PRX 825 Active Speakers.

or

3.) 4 SRX 815 Passive
     2 Passive 18" Subs.

This will be played to a crowd about 150' deep and along a continued parade route. I am sure that someone has some input to this set up and may have recommendations for different brands or sizes.

We have a limited budget of around $5000.00 and the system only gets used once or twice a year.
