Title: New help with my folded horn! Cerwin Vega TS-42

Hey all!

Ok, So I have a Cerwin Vega TS-42 21" folded horn sub. Im confused, When the sub is facing forward, it is not loud on the dance floor? it is MUCH louder on the side or behind. Am I doing something wrong? or what can I do to redirect the sound to the floor?


Powered by a Behringer EP4000 amplifier.

If you're indoors you will experience something called boundary cancellations at bass frequencies, this is where sound reflected off the surfaces of the room reflect and cancel direct output from the sub. Minimizing this is all about sub positioning so the closer you can place the sub to 2 or more boundaries.. the floor and a wall, or a floor and 2 walls, the less cancellation you will get. Among these things, could it be that when you are behind your speakers, you perceive the bass more because you cannot hear the mains as well?

This is similar to a popular loudspeaker manufacturer who has a "deep bass" (I changed the name that they call it) mode.  It does not actually make/allow the sub to go any lower-it only knocks off the upper end of the response. 

So it "appears" to have more bass-but it is actually just less highs.
