Title: JBL 2206H vs 2206HPL
Post by: Adam Dumbacher on August 30, 2015, 10:44:49 PM
Does anyone here know the difference between a JBL 2206H and a JBL 2206HPL?  I've googled them and can't find any info for the hpl model.  My JBL SR4731x cabinets have some of each so I'd like to figure out the difference.  Also does anyone know the best place to get recone kits for them or is it better to have them done by someone else and if so, who?

Thanks,
Adam

The "PL" stands for Private Label. If it is a PL speaker it means it came from a JBL assembled speaker. We have many of both.

+1. 2206 "H" and "HPL" are the same.

The best place to get your speaker repaired is a JBL authorized repair centre. They will install the kit as they're not allowed to sell them uninstalled. If you can find a re cone kit for sale without installation there's a good chance it's not genuine JBL. Having used non genuine JBL kits I would strongly discourage anyone from using them.

The "PL" stands for Private Label.

And I was once told that "PL" stood for "Protection-Less"  :-\ .  My 2206HPL's lack the "magnet tire" but, as already stated, are otherwise identical.

I spoke to JBL on the phone today and was told that the only difference is aesthetics.

So which one believes in a Deity and which one doesn't?
