Title: Big differnce bewteen the 4.0's and 6.0?
Post by: Sandro Costa on February 03, 2006, 09:13:34 AM
Hello and good morning all,

I'm currently using 2-QSC 4.0 amps for the Subs and mids and 1-QSC 2.0 for highs for my FOH rig and looking at possibly purchasing another QCS powerlite series. I've been VERY happy with these for the past 3 years and they have plenty of juice to push any cabinet a out there. My quetion is, I've been eyeing a 6.0 for a while now and thought about using that on my subs.

Must of the shows, 9/10 times, are for portuguese & brazilian festivals with with live instruments and lots of drums and bass, horn players and stage full of musicians (I've maxed out my yamaha GA 32/12 console plenty times with 28 of those channels being mics for each idividual percussion and drum sound)

Is there a huge difference between the 4.0 & 6.0 or should I opt for another 4.0?? I've never had ANY problems with them just curious if it's worth the extra cash to go with a 6.0

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on what speakers you are pushing. Are you really going to notice the difference between 1400w per side and 2050w per side (at 4 Ohms)? You might if your speakers can take the higher power.

One thing that you might notice if you are pushing your PL4s hard (who isn't?) is that if you keep your sound output level the same as before, the PL 6.0 II will give you more headroom and have cleaner peaks.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the reply. I think I'll just purchase another 4.0, they're rock solid and very dependable no matter what you throw at them. I'm currently pushing 4-TRX218B cabs. So far I'm really liking the sound I'm getting from those sub cabs, they work very well for the style and type of music I'm reproducing.

Thanks again, have a great weekend!
