Need to cover an area about 100' x 100' outdoors at night (dark area) with blacklight. I figure I will need to use multiple fixtures around the area facing in. Looking at the following two products, which one will give me a better effect. Event participants will be wearing UV bracelets and glow paint will be in use.

The lamp based usually are more UV only while the LED units are wider spectrum so more blue light. Another unit to look at is the AmericanDJ Cob Cannon, lots of positive comments on it.

If this is a one time thing, how about just renting some WildfireFX or Altman units.

In my experience the UV LED lights still emit too much visible blue light.

It appears to use the same lamp as the Eliminator you linked, but the optics of the ADJ might be better.

Another unit to look at is the AmericanDJ Cob Cannon, lots of positive comments on it.
The COB Cannon is still LED, though.

It appears to use the same lamp as the Eliminator you linked, but the optics of the ADJ might be better.
I saw that one and looked to see that it used the same bulb. It appears to be more of a spot compared to the Eliminator which is a wash.

Those 400w UV HID bulbs are very, very, very inefficient at producing UV light, you will be disappointed in the output for the amount of power they consume. A small florescent fixture will output much more UV light than those. The 100w elation UV (http://www.elationlighting.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ItemNumber=1206)washes are very good units with output magnitudes higher than the HID units. The ADJ version of the same can be found here (http://americandj.com/ProductDetails.aspx?Category=&ItemNumber=1513). Regarding LED's, the visible light output of UV LED's may or may not be desirable depending on how dark you want the area to be. Dark may be nice for a stage or a display, but for patrons running around a bit of wash can prevent trips/falls, etc.

The ADJ HP panel has a bit more output than the Elation UV wash and 400w HID combined however the Elation is still a very good unit.

These two fixtures aren't even in the same ballpark, you might "cover" your area with 6-8 of the Eliminators but you would need hundreds of those LED panels to do it. The ADJ UV canon also produces a lot of output(I won't argue how much of it is actual UV) but note that these are very big fixtures.. about the size of a 10 gallon bucket.

Yes. I have used the wildfire fixtures before. They are good, the dichroic glass in the front does an excellent job of filtering out visible light, but that means it works best with UV reactive paint, not just florescent colored items.

Bought 4 of the ADJ HP Panels. So far pretty impressive.. Other then arriving with a few broken bulbs.

the 400 watt discharge bulb fixtures with the 400w BLB coated bulbs emit little to no visible light, basically any yardlight fixture will fire them, LL-400BLB is a common cross referancable part number, street price 30-40 each
for LED fixtures, cheap way, set them on full blue and stack a rosco R383 Congo Blue combined with R375 Cerulean Blue, that blocks most visible light, yo umay or may not have those common blues on hand
to do it proper use the rosco permacolor 3660 UV pass filter
also the LED must be emitting true UV to work, the filter will not add it
