Title: Does a Guitar or instrument preamp perform the same as a Stereo preamp?
Post by: mikehende on October 02, 2017, 02:47:57 PM
Hello all, I am in need of a preamp for my DJ system where I play music from my pc and that runs into my DBX 231 EQ which runs into my Ashly XR1001 Xover and that goes into my Crown 3600 amps. I don't wish to use a DJ mixer anymore as adding those changes the analog 70s/90s type sound I cam currently getting but need apreamp to get full power out of the crown amps.

Problem I am facing is getting a quality Stereo preamp nowadays, I can find a lot of used Guitar preamps online but I had spoken to a Tech at Peavey who had said that while I can use any guitar or instrument preamp which has a "line" input, it will depend on the preamp's "output" specs which will determine if it matches up to a regular Stereo preamp. So I am trying to figure out if just any guitar or instrument preamp will have the same output specs of a DJ mixer or stereo preamp please?
