Title: Garage Mishap!
Post by: Tom Long on June 30, 2020, 07:41:38 AM
Hello,
Was setup in shop with small system to serve as foldback for a church drive in gig Sun.
System took a heinous RF hit thru ac...
DBX 260 was in red with clip protection, rebooted back but did appear again.

Obviously violated!
Do I need to send it away?
Is DBX have service?

Don't do this!

Depending on where you are located you may have an authorized DBX repair center in town.  You can contact DBX or maybe even some local DBX dealers to find out.  Google is always on option too.

I haven't had to send anything back to dbx in a long, long, time... and back then it was Big Sandy, UT.  Call dbx support - I kind of remember a similar issue with the DriveRack PA or PA2 - but I think this is a hardware problem.  They may have a tech or service center nearby, or they'll have you send it in.

How old is your DR260?

The city is Sandy.  About seven years ago Harman built a new facility in South Jordan (also near SLC) that replaced the Sandy facility, but I don't think it's a repair center.

Last time I sent anything to DBX for repair it went to an address in southern California on the Mexican boarder. I'm guessing from there they go to Mexico for repair, unfortunately it took two times to get it right.
Email and phone support when needed from DBX has been great though.

Yup, factory repair is in Mexico now. There are authorized repair centers all over the country though. As far as I know the former BSS/dbx home in Utah is done for.

Hello,
Got on the phone and spoke to some friendly folks in the authorized repair biz yesterday. Conclusion is that Dbx has no support, as in the inability to provide a mother board for the violated 260. Kind of what I figured.
Ironically I also bought a refurb mr18 from the Tribe for $600.00.
Never a dull moment!
