Title: Updated Privacy Policy and the EU's GDPR effective May 25

We have updated the PSW Privacy Policy (http://forums.prosoundweb.com/index.php?action=gpdr;sa=privacypolicy) to reflect the European Union's GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) which went into effect on May 25, 2018. The European Union has adopted the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) which replaces the Data Protection Directive 95/46/EC (“Directive”). The GDPR was designed to harmonize data privacy laws across Europe, to protect and empower all EU citizens’ data privacy and to reshape the way organizations who handle EU citizen’s data approach data privacy. The GDPR's primary intent is to give back control of personal data to citizens and residents as well as to simplify the regulatory environment for international business by unifying the regulations within the EU.

The definition of "Personal Data" is rather broad, including any information relating to a person who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that person. Examples of Personal Data identifiers include IP address and cookies and may well be regarded as personal data if these identifiers can be or are capable of being, without undue effort, linked back to the individual data subject.

A further aspect of the GDPR is the requirement to delete the personal data of any EU resident requesting the same. The PSW forums have been updated for compliance with the GDPR; if you visit from an EU or EEA country, you will initially see a message relating to this compliance, and you can read the details on our update Privacy Policy (http://forums.prosoundweb.com/index.php?action=gpdr;sa=privacypolicy).
