Title: Truss leveling system
Post by: Magnus Högkvist on January 26, 2019, 12:07:22 PM
Does anyone know if there is a leveling system for trusses? We have a truss grid with 8 motors. The idea would be to have a distance sensor at each rig point to be able to see that grid is leveled. Of coarse this also means that all sensors must to be connected to some form of computer or monitor.

Interested to see if anyone has any ideas.

Motion Labs seems like it may have what you are looking for.

Thanks and interesting, but it's only for Motion Labs controllers and CM motors and I'm looking for a more generic solution.

Do you need exact distance from deck to grid, or is the grid being level sufficient?  X-Y levels might be an answer, as well as an optical/light beam sensor setup.

Do you want a DIY solution or a COTS solution?

Thanks guys, I have been thinking in the lines of a rotary laser and then just check one corners hight, problem is the grid is not a square or rectangle so if one motor is low it might not be that easy to spot it.

But really all this is just because our light guy is a bit lazy....

Do a search for "wireless inclinometer" , I found an inexpensive solution on alibaba:
