Title: Yamaha LS9-32 digital console has lost all settings???
Post by: Dave Williams TX on April 01, 2019, 03:36:38 AM
I powered on our Yamaha LS9-32 digital console this morning and all settings are lost!!! Everything is gone. We have used this LS9-32 for many years and have never had any problems. I have no idea what happened or what to do at this point. Is there a way for me to get my settings back?  I am dumbfounded as how this could have happened.

Any Thoughts or Suggestions???

Thanks,

Dave W

Often a battery hidden somewhere.
I’ll ask my Yammie tech when he awakens

You just reload from your USB backup, right?

All digital mixers are just computers with lots of I/O.

Computers have an onboard lithium battery which keeps various setting saved. When the battery fails (they all do eventually and the LS9 is old enough), the computer boots with factory settings and may no longer have the info to find your show.

That’s why we back them up.

Thanks for the reminder, I need my LS9 in a few weeks so I better check it.

Anyone remember what battery it takes?

I have a customer with an LS-9 that accidentally turned the board on with the dust cover pushing down on a button (maybe the setup button??).  When he took the dust cover off, the screen said “initialize all memories”.  Not knowing any better he just checked “yes” and wiped the board clean.  We we able to get them running with a 9 month old backup (we always save the latest on our yearly system checks).

So yeah, load your data from a stick and you should be good to go. If you don’t have that, you get to relive that “new board” feeling and set it up from scratch.  If it is a battery though, it will definitely lose the settings again.

Changing the battery in the yamaha LS9 is pretty straightforward, it is just 2032 coin cell. Here is a vide on how to do it: How To Replace The Yamaha LS9-16/32 Internal Battery
