I am looking for some insight as to the best way to employ 16 to 18 lab subs at an outdoor rock show on a 40 foot deck ..
I have an EAw ux 8800 with 4 ins and 8 outs for sub processing and 6 PL340 QSc amps //...
Blocks of 4 mouth to mouth with equal spacing and delay from in to out ????
Please don't make me stack 9 per side and have that power alley and nulls to deal with
HELP !!!!

In his talk at the LAB Expo this year Dave Rat talked about a modified end fire array that used 1 (in your case 2) subs as the rear element to 2 or 3 other arrays an each side of the stage. By creating a wide cardioid pattern on each side the power ally summation was reduced by the amount the cardioid pattern falls off in the center. Using 2 LAB Subs as a block, 2 subs facing forward, 2 subs 45º out, and 2 subs 90º out, with 2 subs at the focal point of the 3 sub blocks, with the 6 front subs delayed to match the 2 rear subs will simulate Dave's concept as I remember it. If anyone remembers it differently or better, please chime in.

Here is one of Dave Rat's blogs:

I just can't help but thinking that 18 lab subs stacked together would be bigger than some of the stages I have seen recently.
