Anyone aware of direct burial wiring similar to WP291/292? I usually put this stuff in conduit for obvious reasons, but may have a situation where I'll have to bury some.

Have a look at Belden 133105A

That's what I would pull through buried conduit. Buried conduit is considered a wet location. Don't know if I would want to direct bury that though. No protection.
Why don't you want to use conduit?

It's not that I don't want to. I'm going to be at the mercy of what the customer is willing to do. Odd circumstances here, but it's either going to work out for them to pay me to bury conduit and pull the wire, or they are going to buy the wire and direct bury it themselves. They were going to buy a couple hundred feet of black portable cord and bury that until I stepped in.

With customers like that I would let them do what they want themselves. At least you know where to look each time you go back to fix it. Just tell them that we're going to be seeing a lot of each other. ;D

I strongly recommend to use 1/2 in. trade size schedule 40 PVC conduit. The stuff is ridiculously cheap, east to work with (flexible), and I've never had an animal chew through it. I've had gophers through bears chew all manner of "direct burial" wire, polyethene water tubing, and rubber garden hoses. It's also a lot less likely to have someone put a shovel through it. A big part of the cost is the trenching anyway, so they might as well drop in a conduit. PVC rules. --Frank in critter country

Agreed except for the size. PVC conduit is more difficult to pull cable through than metal, so I’d use 1” trade size minimum. And pull a piece of fish line with the cable for future use.

Watch out for bends - small pull string, especially fish line, can 'saw' through the inner radius of corners and bring the wire pull to a dead stop.
