I love history. This (somehow) reminded me of when I worked in a greenhouse (1966-69) and had to provide timed night lighting for Chrysanthemums to make them bloom at the right time. Back then, I was given a long spool of 2-conductor, which was probably 16ga, to attach piercing "screw-on" bulb sockets about every 4 feet. The runs were 100 feet each (about 25 bulbs, probably 60w). There were 3 runs. I ran the 3 twisted pairs about another 60-100 feet, depending on the row, to the breaker panel. I learned real quick which wire was which.
We killed grubs by putting beer in shallow dishes. They were filled by morning. How's That for an eco-friendly way to deal with pests!
