Guys I have a MQ da7000ss. It’s on the mat bing trailer so fuel goes in the trailer tank.
At some point someone put diesel in the top tank, and apparently there’s a small leak / seepage.
Do I even need to keep that top tank up there? Or could I remove it altogether? Do these work by pulling fuel from the trailer tank and pumping it into the top tank? Or would I be safe to pull that top tank all together?

The top tank gravity feeds into the bottom tank. Fueling instructions say to fill bottom tank first. Why would you want to remove one of the fuel tanks?

If it's like mine, there are 2 sperate fuel caps. One in the "body" of the trailer for the top aux tank and an external 2 foot or so vertical filler neck that fills the main tank. Is that your set up? If so, just run the generator until the fuel level starts to drop in the main tank filler neck. At this point, the aux tank should be empty. Now simply stop using the aux tank and only fill the generator via the external long filler neck for the main tank. That should remove the leak from the circuit as it were. If you ever want to repair leak, the top aux tank I believe is about 17 gal. It's a plastic tank that should be pretty easy to get to by removing some screws and sheet metal from the trailer body so you could find and repair the leak. Likely it's in the fuel line coupling between the two tanks. The plastic aux tank should be pretty east to source and not too expensive if it's the tank itself that is leaking.
