Title: Instant a*hole, just add alchohol

An area pub, posted on Facebook by one of the musicians I know who plays there.

I want to sit in the courtroom during her trial, just to hear her explanation.

From the ol' reliable Nintershnet:

Hallock. (male) Of Irish origin: perhaps from an Old Celtic word meaning 'high' or 'noble'. The name has been perennially popular in Ireland

So she's up before an Irish judge, most likely.  Reminds me of the story of the fellow travelling across NoDakota back in the day.  He stopped into a small cafe in a small prairie town and fell into conversation with the counterman.

"I see a lot of stores with German and Scandinavian names on the businesses.  Any Irish in town?"

To which the counterman replied, "Just two......the mayor and the chief of police."

An Irish friend of mine once said, in the middle of a day-long Irish music festival, "Why do the Irish drink so much? Because their music fucking sucks!"

I pointed out that pretty much all ethnic music sounds the same.

More likely the cause was Irish cuisine.  At least they perfected brewing and distilling.

Your friend never listened to well played Irish music.

The key to mixing pretty much all ethnic music:

Find the brightest, most piercing instrument that's carrying the melody (fiddle, accordion, clarinet, bagpipe, etc. etc.)

Turn it up.

Ok, now turn it up more.

Ok, now turn it up even more until your fillings hurt.  You're almost there. Just a little bit more now.

Do you feel like somebody's pushing a dentist's drill through your eardrums ?  Great.  You might have reduced the number of punters who will come up to you and complain that "instrument x" is barely audible.

Also, never ever ever turn off the reverb & delay on the lead singer, even between songs.

Very Happy

I'm thinking more along the lines that she didn't have a brass pole and grinding backbeat:

The lass from St. Charles had come
to hear the tunes of pipe and drum
after thirty or so beers
the music still hurt her ears
so she pulled the alarm with aplomb.

Cool

So what kind of music was she expecting to hear when she walked into an Irish Pub?

Now I remember.  Wasn't she the one in the short Internet feature film about the bad girl who was exotically punished by the whole fire crew for turning in the false alarm?????? Twisted Evil

I see from the limited profile information that she shares to non friends that she's a Blackhawks fan.   Maybe she was just excited by the NHL playoffs.

From the look of her she wasn't even BORN the last time the 'Hawks won the Stanley Cup.

I don't ever remember the Blackhawks winning the Cup.  When I checked, I could see why.  They last won it in 1961, the year I was born.

And I was a year away from my first non-paying lighting gig. (Summer art camp)
