Due to the flood of spambots this site attracted when it opened we had to institute some security measures we didn't have before. Originally we had administrative approval of registrations because the spambots were getting through 5 Captcha posts. After a few weeks the flood slowed down to a trickle and we removed both the approval process, which was a pain for the admins, and went to just 2 Captcha posts. So far so good.
