Title: Collage Generator on DL2/DL3
Post by: Karl P(eterson) on March 23, 2008, 10:23:22 AM
Does anyone know if you can use the collage generator on an incoming video feed or if it is for internal media only?

I am interested in being able to use dl3's as individual fixtures with their own media engines by themselves and then collage them together with a feed from an sdi switcher

Possible?

As far as I know, the Collage Generator feature on the D.L.2/3 can only be used with content loaded on the on-board media server. I know there are specific resolutions that need to be met in order for the image to be divided and reproduced correctly. There may be certain circumstances where an Axon server can take an incoming feed and make a collage of it, but that would take some serious processing power that the D.L.2/3 doesn't have on-board. Even checking the High End website, it lists the resolution requirements, as well as encoding requirements for the media, leading me to believe only pre-produced and loaded content will work.

Perhaps just give High End a call and see if they have any insight.
