This was truly their first attempt. Somewhere they got ahold of a video file, loaded it up into Media Master 6, which would play audio, but not video. Then they went back, got a blu ray player, came out of it via HDMI, into a BlackMagic HDMI to SDI converter going into the ATEM PRO. Same issue. No video, just audio. They took the file from MM6, onto a PC and it played fine.
ATEM doesn’t support HDCP.  Need a better switcher if you’re going to do this sort of thing.

Honestly, playing back from a blu-ray player is kinda hokey for a professional event.  I’d rip the video and play it back from a proper media server.  That’s much more reliable than a disc player.

I'm putting together a system to play 6 tracks (from Qlab) and do some vocal processing. Can I use one of the larger UAD devices like the Apollo 8 to do all of that on one interface? I would use UAS Console and Qlab simultaneously.

Or am I better off with a small Apollo for processing and something else for track playback?

I'm not sure about how happy the Apollo will be doing two things at once. Obviously the goal is to ensure reliability by offloading audio processing from the host computer.

There was one time that I was in California, The Packers were in the playoffs and it was a noon game in Wisconsin. That meant 10 AM in California. Which meant we found a brewery that was open at 9AM for the game. They thought it very strange that we ordered a beer that early in the morning, but it was a Packer playoff game. Duh.  Anyway, long story short, there ended up being a reporter there and the next day there was an article in the paper titled "Two Cheeseheads were sitting in a bar..."  Apparently we were a novelty in the area and by halftime were kind of entertaining.
24/7 power drinking is the Wisconsin state sport. Obviously California's reporters need to get out more.

From what I've experienced and read it might be better to just buy a 200 foot section. The couplers are problematic in terms of degrading the electrical characteristics for transmission.

I'm about to buy another 100ft to make mine 200ft with the neutrik coupler, works great for my SQ5 + AR2412. Lays flat and coils like a mic cable.

Elegant as always, Dave. And I love a split clamp -- the king of clamps. I'm curious as to what the friction surfaces in the clutch are, if it's not a trade secret 😊 Al on Al, or something else?

I'd have to take it apart, as it's been sitting in storage for a few years.  I think it's delrin, not a friction material.

If you are getting feedback you need to EQ with more precision and agressively.  If you are getting paid for the gig and have a feedback issue most likely won't get hired again.

Thanks for the tip, didn’t know that EQ could fix that……….

The thing with the NX985, is the wider pattern of the horn and maybe inconsistency in the dispersion, once you start cutting freq. You loose the bite, the soubd becomes dull, conpared to the ETX-35P

For most gigs ( other than salsa and merengue bands) , I prefer the DBTechnologies Ingenia IG4T, two of these on top of each other, with one or two RCF 8006.  Another great thing of these boxes ( IG4T), for little truck space !!

I've made a couple of prototype self-tightening mic stand heads, with a conical clutch.  As they droop, they get tighter.  You raise them to loosen them.  Too weird for normal use, but great for overheads. Is there any interest?

Anybody used the Thor Hammer headset mic?  We currently have some E6's and some cheap headsets.  Wondering if the Hammer would be worth a shot in sort of a middle cost bracket?
