Has anyone found a decent chair that's easily collapsable yet comfortable enough for use at FOH?
Right now I bring a nice tall drafting chair, but it's such a pain to find room to pack it in the truck. You'd think someone would make something that comes apart easily and can pack into a reasonably sized package, right?
-
Haven’t used one myself, but the CozyRoadie (https://cozyroadie.com/) looks really nice.
-
If you need a taller option, they are working on one. Check out the second video (the one from NAMM 2019).

I use a drum throne with a back.

Gator frameworks guitar stool. $70 at guitar center and so convenient. Even has back rest.

I have this chair for 2 months and I love it:

It comes apart easily and it's fast to setup up.
I bought it with the backpack bag so It could be easy to transport in the van.
The bag it's bigger in reality than what appears on the photos, so it's not a small item, but during a full afternoon soundcheck and a long concert I always regret when I don't take it with me.

Seems like a good option , considering the price is half of the Thomann.
Tough to beat the comfort of the drafting chair, and the fact it rolls, but it is a pain to pack.

Check companies that sell astronomy equipment as well, these style of stools are often sold as observation seats with telescopes.
Otherwise, another option a friend and I have been using is one of these:

Big and sturdy, yet folds up. Side car with drink holder.
Best regards,
John

I have a foam cushion cut to fit on top of a Pelican Storm case.

I have tried that but, in my case, too hard on the back with no backrest and foot rest.
Still a better option than standing all day :)
Walmart has "directors chairs" for a low cost.

I have been using an aluminum tall director's chair for a few years now. I got it on Amazon, although they don't still have the one I bought, they have similar ones. It folds pretty flat and can be tossed on top of the truck pack. Mine has held up surprisingly well. It has a little side table attached for paperwork and a refreshment. I liked it so much that when I lost it, I bought another one. Then I found the original so I have two now.

I have a Cozy Roadie chair and it's amazing! It's a very nice chair, super comfortable and very well made. It would almost be worth the money if it didn't come apart, but it's amazing to me that it folds up and packs in a case.

I have used this folding chair for 4 years. Still going strong.

I wish they made them in a tall height! I'd buy one in a second if it allowed me to mix at standing height. Instead I bring a drafting chair.

I use an EWI M40 series pull case for mix position gear. My wife made a cushion for me to sit on the upended case. The cushion stores in the case. It isn’t a comfy chair but better than standing and the case is there anyway.

Agreed. I need a drafting-height-chair with wheels.

From their Facebook page...

I wrote them to see if they ship to Europe, I want one :)
-
Sent them an e-mail. If they make a tall one, I'll get one. Wish the price was 50% of what they charge, but what are you gonna do?

It got terrible reviews on Amazon, mostly about perceived construction quality, stability, and flimsiness. Does it just need screw tightening?
-
My current FOH-chair.
Extremly comfortable and compact. But not folding. Thinking about DIY-ing it into folding because I want to bring it everywhere with me. Can be disassembled with a screwdriver if needed.

It looks fine that Gator frameworks guitar stool, although the Mey Chair Systems can be completely unmounted something that the Gator can't

The one I have is this:
https://www.amazon.com/Pacific-Deluxe-Folding-Director-Chair/dp/B004TY636I
More of a flat-bar construction than a round tubing.
When I lost it, I had to source the replacement elsewhere (some camping gear website that longer stocks it either), and it was twice the original price. I actually found the original and it's still going strong. It's pretty lightweight, so you would handle it with some element of care (read; don't let the green roadies handle it). Perhaps this one is better than amazon's current offering. It's all riveted together, so no screws to some loose. Flip side is that once it's loose, it can't be retightened. I haven't had that problem yet.
This actually looks like the same one I have:

My original was $69 about four years ago.

I've been using this one for the last couple years.
LINKY (https://www.amazon.com/Vestil-CPRO-800LP-Ergonomic-Worker-Capacity/dp/B0052PJFCW/ref=pd_sbs_196_1/141-5377749-0060151?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B0052PJFCW&pd_rd_r=55eb89d0-96ab-4ce7-b892-396911e05631&pd_rd_w=omx0M&pd_rd_wg=gniBR&pf_rd_p=43281256-7633-49c8-b909-7ffd7d8cb21e&pf_rd_r=NBW0BAWRFQ04W244KH3X&psc=1&refRID=NBW0BAWRFQ04W244KH3X)
It folds flat and is better than no chair. I usually run a ratchet strap around this and my pelican 1510. The chair is on the top of the 1510, so it functions as the pull handle when rolling the case around. This keeps my whole rig pretty compact and able to get to just about any gig.

Lots of choices if you don't need wheels.
I need wheels and height and a recline-able full-height back, so the only option seems to be the very expensive Cozy Roadie ATM...
